Quinoa - Kaslala

A natural "red, white and black" tricolour seeded variety that has outperformed others in our trials. Season length to maturity is an issue for quinoa in Alberta, so planting in late April (or early May) is recommended. Full sun, grows to 2 m (6 1/2 ft) tall. Sow 6 mm (1/4 in) deep or more, with rows spaced 60 cm (2 ft) apart. Germinates quickly with adequate soil moisture. Thin to one or two plants per 30 cm (1 ft) - the young tender leaves can be cooked like spinach. Almost an ornamental, these plants grow in a delightful rainbow of green, orange, red, pink and purple hues.
